Many pet owners do not get their pets adjusted because they do not recognize signs that their dog is having trouble, or they do not realize that chiropractic can help with the problem.
Here are some signs that your dog may need an adjustment:
Trouble standing up from a seated or laying position
Trouble going up stairs
Unwilling or unable to jump in the car or on the couch
Keeping weight off of one leg
Limping
Only sleeps or lays on one side
Pain or tenderness in lower back
Trouble going to the bathroom
Sits crooked
Constantly licking a leg or paw
Changes in behavior
Your pet will often show signs that something is off before there is an obvious display of pain. It may simply be that they are less active than normal or unable to perform an activity that they used to be able to do. If your dog is not showing signs of pain but is exposed to the following stressors, he or she may be in need of chiropractic care.
Reasons your dog may require an adjustment:
Falls
Frequent long jumps (small dogs getting on and off furniture)
Stands on back legs frequently (small dogs greeting people)
Pulls on collar/harness during walks
Anxiety from owner leaving
Poor diet
Because chiropractic adjustments improve the communication of the neuro-muscular-skeletal system, your dog will almost aways benefit from care. Exceptions may include broken bones, recent surgery, etc. which your animal chiropractor will rule out during the exam before any adjustments are made. Routine chiropractic adjustments can reduce tension and stiffness, improve gastrointestinal problems, improve mobility, and more!
